ALBERT L. COLSON

Officer Albert Colson distinguised himself in the performance of outstanding service to the Town of Exeter by making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. On July 3, 1924, at about 10:30 PM, Officer Colson attemted to disarm a resident of Franklin Street who was sitting on his porch with a shotgun. As Officer Colson attempted to take the weapon away he was shot by the resident with a second gun that he had not seen. The resident then shot a second person who had come to the aid of Officer Colson.
